How Insyta Pro tracks without cookies

SessionStorage instead of cookies

Insyta uses SessionStorage (not cookies). Data is automatically deleted when the tab closes and is never sent to the server. No cross-session tracking possible.

IP anonymization

IP addresses are automatically anonymized before storage: the last octet is removed (e.g. 192.168.1.xxx). Identifying individuals is not possible.

Data on your server

All data is stored exclusively in your WordPress database. No third party, no US server, no cloud. You have full control.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR

Since Insyta Pro sets no cookies, stores no personal data and anonymizes all IPs, tracking can operate under legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

This means: You need no cookie banner and no consent from your visitors. Insyta Pro can start tracking immediately — legally compliant with GDPR, TTDSG and ePrivacy Directive.

Recommendation: Mention Insyta Pro in your privacy policy. The plugin provides a ready-made template under WordPress → Settings → Privacy → Insyta Pro. Just copy and paste.

Frequently asked GDPR questions

No. Insyta Pro works completely cookieless. It uses SessionStorage, which is automatically deleted when the tab closes and is never sent to the server. The optional UTM cookie is disabled by default and can be enabled separately in settings.

No. Since no cookies are set and no personal data is stored, no cookie banner or consent is required under TTDSG §25 and the ePrivacy Directive.

Only anonymized. The last octet of the IP address is removed before storage (e.g. 192.168.1.xxx). Identifying individuals is not possible. Additionally, you can exclude IP addresses from tracking entirely.

No. All tracking data (clicks, scroll, heatmap, sessions etc.) is stored exclusively in your local WordPress database. No transfer to external servers takes place. The only communication with insyta.io is a daily license check (domain + license key only, no visitor data).

Yes. Insyta Pro offers an opt-out mechanism: visitors can disable tracking via the link ?insyta_optout=1. This link can be included in the privacy policy. The opt-out is stored in localStorage and persists for the browser.

In Settings you can delete data per section (clicks, scroll, heatmap etc.) or all at once. You can also configure automatic deletion after X days (30, 60, 90, 180, 365 days or never). Insyta Pro is also integrated with WordPress built-in Privacy Tools (export/erase personal data).
